In her letter, Mrs Bandaranaike has demonstrated the reasons behind her decision and the destructions caused to the party by the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
In her written clarification to the President Miathripal Sirisena, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike has explained the decision she made to support the Presidential candidate of the United National Front, Mr Sajith Premadasa.
Last week, President Bandaranaike pleaded her help to Premadasa whereas her Party, Sri Lanka Freedom Party, under the acting-Chairman appointed by the President Sirisena is supporting the Presidential hopeful of Sri Lanka Podujana Party, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Mr Sirseana decided to be neutral during the polls.
