Former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Hemasiri Fernando has been arrested by Criminal Investigation Division at the National Hospital in Colombo.

Fernando was admitted to the Intensive-Care Unit (ICU) of the Cardiology Unit at the Colombo National Hospital today, July 2, 2019.
Fernando had been given the notice to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department today to record a statement over the Easter Sunday attacks.
However, he fell ill this morning and was admitted to hospital.
