China's top political advisor Wang Yang on Tuesday met with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in Beijing
Wang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, called on the two sides to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance practical cooperation within the framework of jointly building the Belt and Road, strengthen mutual learning of civilizations and exchange of development experience, and continue working together to lift China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership to new levels.
Wang said China firmly supports the Sri Lankan government in maintaining national safety and stability, and stands ready to strengthen security cooperation with the Sri Lankan side to jointly address the threat of terrorism.
Sirisena said Sri Lanka is willing to work with China to strengthen dialogue and exchange of civilizations, jointly advance the Belt and Road development, and continue to consolidate and deepen friendly cooperation in various fields. ( Xinhua)
