Sri Lanka: Ranil destroyed me --- Sirisena

President has already given the necessary orders to all state services, Tri-forces and the police to fulfill their duties






(December 4, 2018, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) While addressing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party assembly, President Maithripala Sirisena today blamed that the sitting Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has destroyed him partially.

“I will not re-appoint Ranil as Prime Minister even if all members ( 225) of the Parliament support,” Sirisena said while recalling the meeting he had with United National Front, last night.

“Ranil is not a politician suitable for this country”, he added while addressing the Assembly held in Colombo.

“The current political crisis will not drag on beyond seven days. I have always taken decisions in the best interest of the country and the people,” President Sirisena tweeted after the meeting.

Meanwhile, a special discussion was held with all the Secretaries to Ministries under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat, today (Dec 04), President’s Media Division has noted in a press statement.

‘’The Court of Appeal on December 03, 2018 issued an interim injunction temporarily restraining the Prime Minister and his Cabinet of Ministers, who were appointed by the President in accordance with the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, from functioning in their respective portfolios, and accordingly the President has given instructions to all the Secretaries of the Ministries to fulfill their respective duties and responsibilities according to the laws of the country continuously without any disruption’’.

Further, in this context, the President has already given the necessary orders to all state services, Tri-forces and the police to fulfill their duties and responsibilities with commitment towards the general public of the country and for the national security.
