(December 4, 2018, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the interim order issued by the court of appeal restraining the respondent from functioning as the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers and State Ministers, informed sources said.

Parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa while rejecting the Court of Appeal ruling on his cabinet and has decided to challenge it in the Supreme Court.

Rajapaksa’s office said that his lawyers will file the appeal first thing today morning. But they didn’t appear before the Supreme Court till afternoon.

The Appeal Court has issued notice and an interim order against Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Government, preventing them from acting as Prime Minister, Cabinet and Deputy Ministers, yesterday.

The order was issued in a Quo Warranto case filed by 122 Parliamentarians against Rajapaksa and his new Government.
