President Sirisena will not attend the parliament






( November 14, 2018, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) After the Supreme Court interim order to suspend the Gazette notification to dissolve the parliament, the leaders of the Political parties in Sri Lanka have joined the meeting under the patronage of the Speaker. In the meeting decided to reconvene the Parliament in short while by following the Gazette notification issued by the President of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, as the decision made during the meeting the parliament will take up a no-confidence motion today, JVP MP Vijitha Herath said. Motion already handed over to the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya. Free seating for all MPs except Prime Ministers, Leader of house Dinesh Gunawardena & Chief Whip.

President Maithripala Sirisena will not attend the parliament. The Parliment session will be started at 10.00 AM in Colombo time.

Delegations from the Foreign Missions in Colombo will also be attending the session.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission states that according to the orders given by the Supreme Court, elections activities have been suspended.

The meeting between the District Returning Officers and the Deputy Elections Commissioners on the 15th will be postponed indefinitely.

The discussion for the secretaries of political parties and permanent representatives scheduled to be held on Friday were also postponed, says Commissioner General MAPC Perera.
