The Ambassador underscored the importance of Parliament reconvening in order to put an end to political turmoil. democratic institutions should serve the people of Sri Lanka and restated the United States’ commitment to Constitutional reform and other steps necessary for lasting reconciliation.

Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz officially began her tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka last week after presenting her credentials to President Maithripala Sirisena.
