(January 16, 2015, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Maithripala Sirisena has agreed to provide his predecessor - Mahinda Rajapaksa the official residence formerly used by ex-defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, reports say.
The residence of superior grade is located in Stanmore Crescent, Colombo.
The President has also agreed to ensure maximum security for the former President and former defence secretary.
This agreement was reached at a special discussion held on Jan. 14 between President Maithripala Sirisena and Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, sources from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party say.
At the meeting it was agreed that no harm should come to SLFPers as well as the Rajapaksas.
However, when former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga retired, she became the subject of continuous political revenge of Mahinda Rajapasa. She was also given an official residence of an inferior grade.
