An unimaginable contrast in Bangladesh

| by Swadesh Roy

( June 5, 2013, Dhaka, Sri Lanka Guardian) One month ago, the people of Bangladesh have experienced that, thousands of Islamic fundamentalist vandalized and burnt the business offices, governmentproperties and the public assets. Their main demand was to incarcerate women inside home with restrictions anddisallow permissibility to work with men.

The German Ambassador in Bangladesh has publicly condemned it. He mentioned it as a total hindrance against the values of the birth of Bangladesh. Not only that, he also told that the support of the main opposition to this fundamentalist is a matter of concern of his country because his country is in favor of modern democracy. Besides,Bangladesh is a signatory of many agreements internationally, which don’t suite with the demand of the Islamic fundamentalist at all. Even one of the special envoys of United Nationshas recently come into Bangladesh. According to her, government should take a bold action against the fundamentalist who are against women empowerment.

When this scenario is going on through Bangladeshi society, this Islamic fundamentalist group has become active in the local election in favor of the opposition candidate, and they are manipulating religion in the name of the campaign of election then a unique parliament session has been started in Bangladesh. The first day of the parliament session was totally contrasted with the scenario of the Islamic fundamentalist. More than fifteen days ago, Bangladesh parliament elected the Speaker of the Parliament. She is a brilliant and western educated young woman. She is only 46. In her leadership, the first day of the parliament was remarkable in the world. At present, the leader of the parliament, opposition leader of the parliament and, the speaker of the parliament are women. It is a history of women empowerment and the history of the parliamentary democracy of the world.

It is the real picture of Bangladesh, the people’s heart or the values of the Bangladesh are representing it. The people of Bangladesh are not fundamentalist and they are not against progressiveness as well. The Bangladeshis are always secular and in favor of modern thinking. Despite Bangladesh has to face hindrancein the long run for a long time by the Islamic fundamentalist and it has been super imposed in this society by some international fundamentalist group and some of their patron country and their collaborator in Bangladesh. The enormous investment of black money from the international terrorist group and their patron countries is the main cause of this fundamentalism. They have occupied a huge number of monetary organizations and the business. Some economist of Bangladesh has entitled that as the` economy of fundamentalism’.

So, if this secular and progressive people of Bangladesh want to get rid of the Islamic fundamentalist, the source of money from abroad has to be stopped and has to take action against the economy of fundamentalism. If Bangladesh can do it, Bangladesh will not only restore such a society where Prime Minister, opposition leader and speaker are women but also will upturn 60 million efficient women workers within ten years.
