( March 12, 2013, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa now in Tokyo on a 4-day official visit to Japan will witness the signing of the 43rd yen loan package to Sri Lanka granted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Thursday, March 14, informed sources said.
JICA intends to support the Government of Sri Lanka to enhance accessibility of the vulnerable rural communities to production centres and markets, potable and agro water facilities etc, these sources revealed.
The president accompanied by First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa arrived in Japan this morning.
The two countries will sign several bilateral agreements during the President's tour and the Sri Lankan delegation is expected to hold discussions with Japanese business leaders on investment opportunities and tourism.
Meanwhile JICA will outline its partnership in the development of Sri Lanka and its 43rd yen loan package at a media conference in Colombo on Tuesday, March 19th.
