( January 11, 2013, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Parliament has resumed sittings after an adjournment and the speaker has overruled opposition objections not to take up for voting the impeachment motion agaisnt the the Chief Justice.
Accordingly the voting is due to commence.
Earlier the House was adjourned for more than 30 minutes after the oppositon raised the issue that the decision to take up the impeachment motion for a vote and convey it to the President was stated in the order book.
Outside Parliament hundreds of pro-government supporters are demonstrating chanting slogans were lighting firecrackers as the debate was in progress.
