( December 25, 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A Buddhist monk has been remanded for sexually abusing a 15 year old girl at Mahakelegama in Galenbindunuwewa about three months ago.
Chief incumbent of Sudarshanarama Vihara, Mihindupura Sumananda has been arrested on a complaint received by police that he had abused the girl at the temple.
He had allegedly lured her into a room, saying there was a call for her from his mobile, and abused her.
Police told court that parents had delayed complaining to police as they feared disruption to her sitting for the GCE O/L examination.
