A Nepali national illegally detain by Saudi Authority

(September 25, 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Meghnath Bhusal, 32, passport number 3591003 valid till 06 November 2012 and a permanent resident of Beulibas VDC-03, Parbat district, Nepal was arrested by Riyadh police, Saudi Arabia more than two months ago without any charge and his whereabouts has not be established yet.

“He was working for a company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia since 2009,” Ghanshyam Bhusal, 41, who is elder brother of the victim and a permanent resident of Siddhartha Municipality-09, Rupandehi district, Nepal, noted in his appeal.

“He was working in the account section of Al Othem Supermarket, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the last 4 years. After completing his leave he had returned to his job two years ago and was in regular contact with the family members. But since last two months he didn’t contact us. When we tried to contact him his Nepali friends informed us that he was arrested by Riyadh police and detained in Mallaj Police Office, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With the help of some Nepalese working as food suppliers to the police station, we were able to talk to him once. He informed us that he was not aware of the charge slammed on him and was detained illegally. From that day onward no one is allowed to meet him and no legal access is provided to him. Now, we are unaware of whereabouts of Mr. Meghnath,” Mr. Ghanshyam added.

Meghnath Bhusal has 6 family members including his wife Meena Bhusal who are dependent on him. Still they are unaware of his arrest and illegal detention except his elder Ghanshyam Bhusal.

Mr. Meghnath Bhusal had gone to Saudi Arabia on 15 October 2008 as worker for Othen Supermarket, Saudi Arabia with two years contract from Sky Overseas Pvt. Ltd, Nepal. After two years he returned to his house on 1 month leave and returned to the same company. His personal mobile number is 00966-548107857 which is switched off after his arrest.

He was detained illegally without providing access to his Nepalese friends. But on the day of Ramajaan EID some local people who had visited their relatives detained in the same detention center met him and informed his colleague about his arrest and detention as per his request.

Victim was actively involved in social works and rights of villagers when he was in Nepal. And during his stay in Saudi Arabia also he was a member of Srijana Cultural Group Nepal and was actively working for the welfare of Nepalese community in Saudi Arabia. Now no one knows about the whereabouts of Mr. Meghnath Bhusal.
