A militant group of ISI threatened a Baloch journalist who is our special correspondent
(March 22, 2012, Balochistan, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to reports received by Sri Lanka Guardian, a banned militant organization told to be the right wing of ISI threatened Guardian correspondent there in Balochistan. Reports further said, before some nights some unknown men wearing masks with automated weapons came to his house gate, stayed there for hours then went back in the early hours of morning. It should be remembered that journalists from Balochistan had already been threatened by a militant organization believed to be ISI wing.
According to press reports Mir Jang Baloch, the spokesman of BMDA in a phone call to the Naushki Press Club said the organization will target those journalists who are working as informers of groups seeking independence for Balochistan like, Baloch Republican Army and Baloch Liberation Army. Jang had already threatened the Khuzdar Press Club journalists and journalists reporting for Daily Tawar.
The journalists who were threatened before were correspondent of “Express News” TV channel, president of Khuzdar Press club, correspondent of “ARY News” TV channel, correspondent of “KTN News” TV channel including reporters of Daily “Kawaish”, correspondent of Daily “Balochistan News” correspondent of “Aaj TV” channel and Editor of Daily Tawar an Urdu newspaper publishes from Balochistan. Sub editor including two other reporters of Daily Tawar were also killed.
Journalists from Balochistan had already protested against such illegal action of ISI and its militants groups, in a protest demo at Quetta press club some months back warned such threats alarming as five Balochistan based journalists had been killed already for their reporting since June 2010. Fresh threats and warning to Sri Lanka guardian reporters there in Balochistan are alarming. International federation of journalists including International union of journalists should take serious notice against censorships on media in Balochistan.
