UPFA wins Galle MC

The UPFA won the Galle Municipal Council taking 11 seats.

The UNP won seven seats while the JVP won one seat.

Anuradhapura MC goes to UPFA

The UPFA won the Anuradhapura Municipal Council taking ten seats while the UNP won three.

The JVP did not win any seats.

UPFA sweeps Hambantota

The UPFA won the Hambantota Pradeshiya Sabha taking six of its seven seats. The UNP won one seat.

UPFA heading for victory in N-Eliya

Another bastion of the United National Party-the Nuwara-Eliya Municipal Council is set to fall into the hands of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) after leading with 400 plus votes, unofficial reports said.

The main opposition United National Party (UNP) had controlled the Council for the past 28 years on the trot.

UPFA takes Matara , K'gala MCs

The ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has won both the Kurunegala and Matara Municipal Councils, according to results released a short while ago.

In Kurunegala, the UPFA secured eight seats while the UNP obtained four seats while in the Matara MC, the UPFA won nine seats, the UNP five and the JVP one.

UPFA set to take Kandy MC

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has taken an early lead in the Kandy Municipal Council elections for the first time in 58 years, unofficial reports said.

They said that the UPFA was ahead of its main rival the United National Party (UNP) by some 3,000 plus votes.

The UNP had ruled the Council for the past 58 years on the trot.
