Colombo goes to UNP as UPFA 21 other councils

(October 09, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The United National Party (UNP) captured control of the key Municipal council in the country returning 24 members to the council as against 16 members of the UPFA while the UPFA won 21 councils and the SLMC one in Kalmunai.

At the CMC polls the UNP received 43 per cent of the vote while the UPFA 32 per cent of the vote.

Mr. Mano Ganesan’s Democratic People’s Front returned six members while the SLMC and Democratic Unity Alliance returned two members each. The JVP returned only one member and two other independent groups one each.
