(October 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A 15-year-old schoolgirl undergoing training at the Cadets Training College at Rantambe was found dead in the hostel on October 05.
Identified as Iresha Sandamali of Rathmalgoda Maha Vidyalaya in Polgahawela, she was among 1,253 students from schools across the island who had been undergoing a five-day training there.
After training on the previous day and going to bed, other girls found Sandamali had not woken up on the next morning.
Upon being informed, hostel officials examined the girl and found her dead.
Sandamali’s father too, had died around two months ago.
The post-mortem examination is due to be conducted today, where the cause of death is due to be pronounced.
The passing out parade of the schoolchildren at this college is also due to take place today.
