(September 27, Paris, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Sri Lankan Ambassador to France and UNESCO, with accreditation to Spain and Portugal, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka presented his Letter of Appointment as the Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN WTO) to its Secretary General in Spain on 14thSeptember 2011.
Meeting Secretary General Taleb Rifai, a former Cabinet Minister of Jordan , in Madrid , Ambassador Jayatilleka discussed issues concerning the promotion of tourism in Sri Lanka .
Ambassador Jayatilleka also attended the 1st International Congress on Ethics and Tourism, organized by WTO. The Congress was addressed by the head of the UN Alliance of Civilizations and former President of Portugal, Jorge Sampayo and attended by over 300 delegates from more than 50 Member States of the WTO as well as international organizations.
