(August 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that he can only bring a thembili and visit any journalist if they are assaulted and admitted to hospital.
“I do not have powers to take police action. I cannot also give orders to the police to carryout investigations or arrests”, Mr Rambukwella said at the weekly cabinet newsconference when he was questioned about the investigations on the attack on the Uthayan news editor G.Kuhanathan.
“According to my powers I can only visit you in hospital”, he said.
“Some time later the reports may come. It may take eight or nine years for the reports to come”, Mr. Rambukwella said in response to a question about the previous investigations on attacks on journalists.
