(June 01, Lisbon, Sri Lanka Guardian) Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Portugal resident in Paris presented on 31st May 2011, his Credentials to Prof. Anibal Cavaco Silva, the President of the Portuguese Republic at the Presidential Palace in Lisbon.
During his four day visit, the Ambassador paid courtesy visits within the Portuguese Foreign Ministry to Ambassador Jose Bouza Serrano, the Chief of Protocol and to Ambassador Vasco Valente, Secretary General.
In addition to these visits, the Ambassador was also received at the Portuguese Foreign Ministry by Dr. Fins do Lago, Head of Security & Defence Division, Dr. Sara Martins, Head of Political & Multilateral Affairs Division and Dr. Carla Grijo, Head of the Asia and Oceania Division.
The Ambassador was also received by the President of the Gulbenkian Foundation, Dr. Rui Vilar. This prestigious private institution guaranteed to the Ambassador the availing of their resources to Sri Lanka, mainly in scholarships and research activities in diversified areas, including the musical and historical ones. The President of the Gulbenkian Foundation extended an invitation to the Ambassador to attend in early June 2011 in Paris, an event organized by the Foundation where both parties would be able to continue their exchange of views.
During his visit to Lisbon, the Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Ahamed Razee, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Sri Lanka and Mr. Georg Wolter, Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka in Portugal.
