(May 14, Kathmandu, Sri Lanka Guardian) Subsequent to the 1990 uprising the Nepali Congress and UML came to power. After coming to power these two political parties centralized the political administration on corruption. The misrule of the Nepali Congress and UML gave rise to the Maoist rebellion. From 1995 the Maoist in name of people’s uprising systematically killed 15,000 Nepali citizens, army personnel and policemen. They demolished billions of worth infrastructure. There is no answer as to what inspired and for whom was this rebellion launched. In 2006 Maoist, NC and UML joined hands to form a coalition that became a nuclei of the new regime. Why had Maoist launched the devastating rebellion if they had to conclude it by joining hands with such traitors and corrupts?
What the Maoist party wants is not clear, whether it is in the government or not? Congress and UML are such parties that have completely failed in the national politics. They don’t have an ideology. Let alone Congress and UML but the Maoist party has also failed to accomplish anything in the interest of the nation. It is sad that they have not achieved anything as such. If all the killings and destruction of infrastructure costing billions was done to please a foreign power and sign the 12 point pact in November 2005 in New Delhi, we can see the degree of treason of the Maoist party. It has been heard for a long time that the Maoist party is inspired by foreign power. The Maoist party must now be more serious when thinking and speaking what it really wants.
On 29 April 2011 edition of Kantipur daily Saurav published one article, 'Churches's constitutional head is Norway’s king, whom Pushpa Kamal Dahal had met in March 2009 after the establishment of Secularism and republic. He congratulated Dahal on completing his responsibility in Nepal. Although $ 50 million had been distributed to the political leaders to transform Nepal into a secular state, 7 billion has already been spent in this process of turning Nepal secular. The case is developing less towards establishment of ‘Limbuwan’ and ‘One Madhes One State’ and more towards the plight Southern Sudan once faced. Maoist is not understood in terms of being in the interest of the welfare of any nation. It is rather seen in the interest of Christian nation. Vatican wanted to throw out the king for nothing. India also benefited from the republic. Leftists are called into a conference in the Norwegian ambassador’s residence. Someone is given gift in dollars. Maoist inclination to Christianity is the guard of its own selfishness.”
If the Maoist neglect such an article substantiated by evidences then we should have no qualm and doubt to point towards Congress, UML and Maoist as traitors. In the end of 2010 Maoist chairman Prachanda had spoken at a convention of Christians at the Open Theatre that he would kidnap those against secularism. Everybody felt at that time how full of shame were his words. The Maoists cannot always play with the aspirations of Nepali citizens and pamper with NC and UML leaders and make them dance. The Maoist party with the backing of its army is indulging in a frivolous manner. If the Maoist party persists in such a way, it will be finished. The Maoist must come clear with one ideological line. No political organizations in the world have succeeded acting frivolously. The People’s Republic envisioned by the Maoists is not possible in Nepal. Due to its own undertakings the Maoist party has become infamous and unsuccessful. The Maoists have no other status than to issue threats with firm belief in the strength of arms. It is a wrong thing that a rebellious force as such becomes unpopular. The Maoists’ destruction will have effects on all of us in the nation.
Now the Maoist party should reappraise its agendas and with changes ought to give a new path of solution to the people and the nation. The Maoist party cannot operate within a secure boundary by carrying on the burdens of foreign agendas of secularism, republic and federalism. Why has the Maoist party taken the burden of anti-nationalist agendas of interest to the foreign powers? Can anyone with such anti-nationalist agenda survive for long in Nepal? Congress and UML have already shown their corrupt attitudes and activities. If we are to speak candidly it is Nepali Congress and UML that have thrown our nation into the ditch. Maoist rebellion was the result of the misrule of Congress and UML. King was not at the root of grievance that sparked the Maoist rebellion. The King had never consented nor desired to mobilize the national army against the Maoist rebels. However, many Congress leaders, in an attempt to hide their faults, tend to accuse the King of operating the Maoists.
The Maoist party that had once hit the underground against Congress and UML’s misrule and foreign intervention is now sandwiched between Congress and UML. The Maoist party tends to seek foreign help more than Congress and UML. Thus its difficulty.
The Maoist party in order to salvage its dissipating influence has backed an opportunist and a controversial figure like Jhalanath. This has not increased Maoist trustworthiness but reduced it. The Maoist must change its course and join hands with nationalist force. The Maoist must approach perceptively to recall the sudden rise of nationalism in BP Koirala in 1976 after Sikkim disappeared into India and subsequent initiative on part of BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai to give continuity to nationality and democracy with monarchy to retain the sovereign image of Nepal. In 1960 King Mahendra took to a significant political change to counter the growing foreign intervention.
Many analysts are of the belief that the step taken in 1960 was not only directed to topple Nepali Congress regime but also save Nepal’s sovereignty. Those who were defeated by King Mahendra’s views ought not to dare to endanger nationalism. The Maoist cannot persist in its usual manner, but now it must joint hands with the King and nationalist force to rid the nation of foreign intervention and rampant corruption. Maoist must note this fact that there were no leaders as BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai to suffer at the hands of the King. They have spent many years in jail and many years struggled for democracy. Their supporters were killed, many sent to jail and many suffered. BP Koirala suffered most in the name of the King.
Nepali politics from 1960-1990 was centered in accusing Nepali Congress. In spite of such political assaults BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai did not speak against the royal institution in favor of republic. They were of the opinion, “If constitutional monarchy is to be absent then Nepal’s nationality would not remain secure.” They did not support republic even in the last days of their lives. So what should be Maoists’ path? Is it Republic or People’s Republic? The Maoist party came to power with the backing of Congress and UML in 2006.
Whether the Maoist remained in the government or outside it, it could not do anything for the nation. Due to the game of power politics the Maoist party has fallen into a glowing fire. The party came to power with the backing of India but it became China’s supporter. As a result it belongs nowhere. Thus, a stupid trips over once, but a clever person trips over many times.
When People’s Republic of China was at the heights of socialism, its nationalist leader Mao Tse Tung said, “China supports Nepal’s royal institution as it is the reason the country’s sovereignty is secure. Although the hide of communists’ seems to be revolutionary in Nepal but they are guided by India in reality.” So Mao used to believe not in Nepali leaders but the Kings. This has been proved now. China understands the conspiracy of expansionist and imperialists to weaken Nepal and destroy an integrated China. So if Nepal comes under the danger from republic and secularism not only Nepal but neighboring India would also be disintegrated and even China may disintegrate due to Free Tibet campaign.
There must be an agreement to seal the open border between India and Nepal with a wall with 7-10 border points. Due to this open border and the insecurity resulting from it, both the nations are unable to find a definite solution.
Nepal is suffering from many problems. The nation has become a colony of corrupts. There is no way forward without taking action against these corrupts. There can't be any solution by only taking action against Chiranjibi Wagle. A list must be prepared of the names of party leaders, prime ministers, ministers, their secretaries, general directors of various general departments, project chiefs, organization heads, contractors and all responsible employees working from 1990 to 2011 that were corrupt. Their properties must be nationalized. The corrupt leaders of the Panchayat era must also be taken into action in a multiparty system. A nation cannot develop without the state undertaking the policy of supervising the nation’s industries, economy and commerce sector. In this course privatization policy must be adopted by the state. The nation should mobilize its resources as if in war time to utilize the neglected land, rivers, fruits, herbs, tea, and alert people of possibilities of agriculture. The state must protect the neglected jungles. Manpower can be effectively used to make use of our water resources. All nationalist force can work together for the prosperity of a sovereign Nepal.
