Will LTTE [NCCT] pave a way to destroy the Conservative government?

(February 24, Ontario- Canada , Sri Lanka Guardian)It has come to the limelight of the penetration of the LTTE into the Conservative Government through a narrow path was exposed on January 15th, 2011 when Paul Calandra, MP for Markham Oakridges, participated in the official opening ceremony as the chief guest of the National Council of Canadian Tamils [NCCT] at 5310 Finch Avenue East, Toronto. None of the Liberal and NDP parliamentarians attended the event including the home riding MP Jim Karigiannis. Participation of Paul Calandra in this event brings a negative impact among the mainstream Canadians.

It has been proved by the media that NCCT is a proxy of two entities [LTTE/WTM] that are banned in Canada by the Conservative Government. The photo evidences and material evidences published in the media awakened the community of the contradiction that the Party has between anti-terrorism and encouraging terrorism. I hope at the best interest of national security the Conservative government will contact the law enforcing body and concerned government departments.

One could question that whether Paul Calandra’s participation was intentional or unintentional? But in Paul’s own riding he has quite a large number of Tamils and he is well aware of the demarcation between the group of LTTE activists and the law abiding Tamils. Therefore there is no room to justify that he participated without any pre-knowledge of the event. Conservative’s radars always very much watchful when it comes to Tamil Community, so their request to Paul to participate on this event is certainly a deliberate action. The ban on LTTE and WTM indicated that it is an offence to knowingly participate in, contribute to, or facilitate certain activities of a listed entity. Other related offences are set out in the Criminal Code. So when something goes wrong with NCCT it may be too late for Conservatives to distance from this association which has executives and members who’s past in controversial and sighting connection to the outlawed associations.


On Monday June 16, 2008 when the ban was imposed on World Tamil Movement the then Minister of Public Safety Hon. Stockwell Day said “...The listing of the WTM is meant to support the Tamil Community of Canada, which consists of law-abiding and hard working people who have left their country of origin to build a better life for themselves and their families in Canada. The Government is taking this step to help ensure that Canadians, including the Tamil community are protected from the activities of this organization.”

What a contradiction within the party the Public Safety Minister banned this entity with above remarks whereas Paul Calandra, a MP from the same government participated in the opening ceremony of NCCT the proxy association of the banned entity. Not only Conservatives banned LTTE and WTM indeed it was a promise in the election in 2005. In spite of the Conservative government banned these associations to support the Tamil Community from intimidation, extortion and threaten Mr. Paul Calendra, actively participated NCCT opening ceremony and encourage them to function legally?

Some Conservative Party politicians undermined and ignored their own government’s policy and trying to get a few votes in an inappropriate manner from the entities which are banned. It cannot be tolerated by anyone who supports the Party. I am very certain that the NCCT is a proxy of LTTE/WTM it will be pretty soon proved by the concerned departments. It would be too late if the government does not take the necessary action right away. We don’t want our nation be centre of growing and exporting terrorism.

To get a vote from LTTE supporters the Conservative might lose 1,000 of their traditional votes from strong Conservatives who are anti-terrorism supporters as this relationship with the LTTE is contrary to Conservatives policy and principle.

The front runners of the NCCT are with full of lies. They don’t have any other choices than telling lies to the Conservatives about their activities and hidden agenda. Once they started with one lie then to cover it up they will come with more lies. They portrait themselves as the sole representative of the Canadian Tamils and it isn’t true. The majority of the Canadian Tamils are law abided citizens and only a handful of these people misguide and mislead the Conservative politicians. Unfortunately some of the parliamentarians are the victims of it. It is not a biased opinion and it can be proved with evidences when it is required.

Some may try to deny and give lame excuses that the exhibits and evidences are not proving their link with LTTE and WTM but the fact that cannot be challenged is the LTTE/WTM are the one who form the NCCT to carry out their agendas by misleading the government. The founding team led by Canadian LTTE leader Nehru Gunaratnam with the assistance of Conservative Party’s Community Relations Council representative Amaleethan Xavier. Evidences are in possession and you could obtain it by Google the name. There is no doubt Conservative Party’s Community Relations Council’s representative actively participating in the activities of the Canadian LTTE and WTM activities. They are not at all concern of the Conservative Party and its government or the safety of Canada. Their only agenda is to do what they have been doing it in a protected way by forming a new organization but carrying out the same agenda. It is a total cheating.

They may say to you that it is a process of transparency but it is a process of transferring World Tamil Movement’s activities to its proxy to carry it openly. They formed a group of delegates of NCCT and periodically meeting with Parliamentarians and Ministers as they are the representatives of Tamils. This team is led by Ragavan Paranchothy who portrait himself as a media person who is interested in the wellbeing of the Canadian Tamils but his interest is to carry out the agenda of LTTE/WTM. He has been working at CMR 101.3FM a media that belongs to the WTM. This media was seized by LTTE/WTM in 2006 May from its genuine owner and Ragavan Paranchothy is acting on the direction of LTTE/WTM to carry out the given hidden task.

In the recent past there are individuals and entities that identify themselves as Conservatives but they are not genuine Conservative supporters or members who have hidden agendas of WTM/LTTE’s activities. Some of our MPs were taken for a ride by this individuals and entities and I would cite Mr. Patrick Brown is one of them.

Shan Thayaparan, who won the Conservative party ticket at Markham and Unionville riding, was the founder of boomicom telecommunication .which is funded by WTM. He was a Liberal executive member while maintaining his Conservative connection. Being a Liberal executive member, he requested the NDP federal nomination for Scarborough Rough river riding which was reject by NDP then. Sham Thayaparan is the blind follower of LTTE and its principal and carry out the task ordered by LTTE leadership. Other than that he does not have any political interest in Canada and Canadians but an aggressive lieutenant of LTTE to fulfill the interest of his masters.

Shan Thayaparan being a lieutenant of LTTE, he has also brought most of his family members into the LTTE. His wife brother Suresh Ratnabalan is elected to Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) and a active member of its parliament which was established by LTTE nominating Uruthirakumaran as its Prime Minister, the right hand man of late LTTE leader Mr.V.Pirabaharan. Some of his other close relatives are also holding positions in LTTE run organizations in Canada and else where. Mostly LTTE appoints only their loyal and trustful people for any its official positions. By appointing Shan Thayaparan as the Election Commissioner of National Council of Canadian Tamils (NCCT), the LTTE has clearly indicated Shan Thayaparan as its very loyal and trustful lieutenant.

LTTE has selected one of its long time loyalists to seek federal nomination for Scarborough South west is none other than Ragavan Paramsothy, who is well and very closely connected with LTTE high command. His media connections brought him close to Conservatives and he was on the member of media team while Prime Minister Stephan Harper visited India. LTTE has used Ragavan Paramsothy’s media image to infiltrate into Conservatives and trying to elect their loyal lieutenant to Canadian Parliament to raise its separatist voice to be heard to the world. But Conservatives who are trying to win the GTA seats with separatist minority votes for a majority government fail to understand that their image throughout Canada will have a bit hit including in the Conservative support base of North. May be LTTE nominated Ragavan Paramsothy will pump millions of dollars for election expenses for Conservatives, who has a vast LTTE wealth behind them, but ruin thousands of traditional Conservative votes and trust in the party they voted for decades, which will ultimately erode their support base.

I am pretty sure if the government would have known NCCT’s agenda it would not encouraged them in having discussion meeting with Ministers and MPs. NCCT’s meeting with the government’s representative will backfire the Conservatives. Whether we like it or not in a short period of time it may be exposed to the media that NCCT is infiltrating into the Conservative Party in a very systematic manner and if the party is not careful it will lead to a disaster.
