(February 20, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian)Mother of slain LTTE leader V.Prabhakaran, Parvathi Pillai (81) passed away a short while ago at the Valvetithurai hospital, Former MP M. Sivajilingam confirmed. She was 81.
Parvathi Pillai was in hospital since last month due to several illnesses, including heart problem. At the time of her admission to the hospital last month Parvathi was already partially paralyzed and diabetic. Lately, she has sunk into severe depression and has stopped eating. The reason being, though helping financially, her three remaining children - in Denmark, Canada and India -- are not ready to visit Sri Lanka.
Prabakaran’s mother was earlier in Malaysia but was brought down to Sri Lanka last year. Since then she was in protection custody of Sri Lankan military and later she was released. She stayed at a lodge in Colombo for a short period until she moved to her native place at Valvetithurai.
