(January 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) After we published the first report on Mihinlanka, the Rajapakse's own aviation company, we have received more details from our sources in Colombo. All details point to the fact that Mihinlanka is one of World's worse aviation companies.
What we have gathered now is that its training institution can endorse flight training only on a Sri Lankan License. So, whoever is willing to pay the thundering amount of USD 35,000 for 20 hrs of training can openly target Mihinlanka. However, they will ask for more money if the pilot or they decide further training is necessary through SAAS.
It is impossible for a Mihinlanka trained pilot to approach another airline with the A 320 rating endorsed by Sri Lankan because it is not considered an international rating.
The people involved in this project were the same people who were hired by a Kenyan businessman who wanted to set up an airline in Sri Lanka. The local Sri Lankan partners banded together, stole his money, intimidated him to hand over the project plan and chased him away.
Other interesting facts have come to light.
The CEO of Mihinlanka, XXXXXXXXX, has for some reason lived in the UK for 5-6 years but now resides in Sri Lanka. He is not married and apparently has no intention of getting married.
One of the directors who is the CEO's son is recently divorced and living with the CEO. He was kicked out of Sri Lankan for forging documents and also dismissed from the air force by forging flying hours.
When Capt XXXXXXX (SAAS) was the manager Flight Operations at Sri Lankan Airlines in 1993-1997 He was very famous for accepting money from Cadet pilots to enroll them in the air line. He was also forced by the courts to step down from the position of Manager Operations because he used to hire his training aircraft at Rathmalana for flight tests for Airlanka, favouring students of his Flying school to pass the flight test.
We can also confirm the Manager Flight Operations Capt XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX of Mihin Lanka was also previously employed by Sri Lankan Airlines but was unable to join for a second time. He was famous for getting caught Shoplifting in Singapore where he was banned from flying.
