(January 24, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian) A new building is to come up at Jaffna Teaching Hospital at a cost of Rs.2900 million under the donation of Japan Government with modern medical facilities. The Minister of Health and Nutrition Mr. Maithripala Sirisena laid the foundation stone for the new building with the participation of the Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Mr. Douglas Devananda, Governor General Mr. G. A, Chandrasiri and the Ambassador of Japan Mr. Konio Takasi. Mr. Maithripala Sirisena also dug the first heap of earth officially to start the new building construction.
The Health Minister with Minister Mr.Douglas Devananda and the Director of hospital Mrs. Bawani inspected cardiology unit, Endoscopy Unit, Nursing Training School, CT Scan room, Cardiac catherterization unit and the other departments of the hospital.
Jaffna Government Agent Mrs. Imelda Sukumar, Jaffna Mayoress Her Lordship Mrs. Yogeswari Patkunarasa and Jaffna District Commander Major General Mr. Hathurusingha also participated at this event.
