(December 05, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Information leaking out of Sri Lanka High Commission confirm, the image building consultants Bell Pottinger suggesting to the President during his stay in London to engage with the section of the Tamils in the UK.
They have said this engagement with the High Commission is vital to counter the LTTE campaign in the UK.
At the public meeting held in the High Commission before President’s rushed departure to Colombo in fear of arrest warrant being issued by the UK Court, only six Tamils and three Muslim community members had participated. The Tamils and Muslims engagement with the High Commission has dwindled as a result of the hard line policies of the government of Sri Lanka and the incompatibility of the High Commission to accommodate or respect the Tamil views.
Those Tamils and Sinhalese attended the meeting are considered pampered by the Government of Sri Lanka. At the meeting a Tamil lady was heard speaking to the President and Minister S B Gunesekara requesting for a favour to appoint her choice of candidate for the post of Chancellor for the Jaffna University.
