(November 19, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The website run by the former shotgun terrorist and the maverick Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawanse of the President Rajapakse government, having failed in his campaign against the UN General Secretary and the international community has launched his personal tirade against the Editor of the Sri Lanka Guardian, Nilantha Ilangamuwa.
According to the report published in his website, Wimal Weerawansa has discharged his usual raw swage of vituperation that Nilantha Ilangamuwa is funded by the Indian intelligence service Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).The RAW is the external espionage agency of the Government of India, said to be similar to the CIA.
Without verifying the details before discharging his nonsensical charge, Wimal Weerawanse has blindly accused that Sri Lanka Guardian editor is
involved in a project with the RAW to tarnished the image and the reputation of Sri Lanka. His harsh criticism comes at the time when Government of Sri Lanka is claiming its relationship with India is excellent that India is contributing positively towards the progress of island nation.
In a recent article written by Nilantha Ilangamuwa in the Lanka News Web in Sinhala, he argued that the British must reengage and colonize and rule Sri Lanka for another 200 years in order for Sri Lanka to understand and enjoy the real meaning of rule of law and the much wanted freedom that is lacking in the country.
The editor’s article also accused the President Mahinda Rajapakse of further contributing towards dividing the nation due to his divisive policies that is preventing the nation to find the much wanted permanent peace. His article further stated that the President's second term will take Sri Lanka towards a rule similar to the Nazis state.
The Lanka News Web alerted Nilantha Ilangamuwa about the article of Wimal Weerawanse.
In the Nilantha Ilangamuwa’s article in Sinhala language in the Lanka News Web, he has stated: “there are more than one hundred thousands people made homeless in the recent flood in Colombo. They are living in temples, schools and churches. Government gave them only 330 rupees per person which is not enough even for one day. Even there is news that they were provided spoilt food. With this meagre support, the government claiming it is doing this because it loves the people. All these are done when the country’s leader is preparing to have his extravaganza to celebrate his second term in office recklessly spending over billions of rupees. Is this what we need today?”
In response to the comment, the maverick minister further states, ‘Nilantha Ilangamuwa, is the man who provided all the information about war crimes to the Al Jazeera recently with the aim to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka’.
In his write-up, Wimal Weerawanse has quoted the government funded Asian Tribune website (operating from Helsinki) report two years ago that there were investigations on Nilantha Ilangamuwa's visit to India. He substantiated his argument with the false Asian Tribune report that Nilantha Illangamuwa had discussions with the RAW officials. Just based on news interviews of important Indian officials published in the Sri Lanka Guardian, the controversial Asian Tribune that came under critical analysis by the Sri Lanka Guardian propped up its gutter story that has become the source for eccentric minister to quote.
Responding to the comment of Wimal Weerawanse the Sri Lanka Guardian said ‘It natural when you dissect the failures and weaknesses of the government, bearing in mind its mission one will come under attack. Truth is always bitter to swallow for the government that thrives on lies and calumnies. I am not affected or worried by the canard of the minister who is failing to understand his ministerial responsibilities of mature behaviour in the first place. The man who went on the ‘fast unto death’ to loose 3 kilograms of his weight to teach a lesson to the UN Secretary General wanted a escape root to end the fast, due to severe hunger which was soon provided by the President. Soon after drinking the liquid poured through his mouth by the President, the cowardice former shotgun terrorist went into hiding for sometime. Having put his fast news to the back burner, this raving minister has jumped into the rollercoaster again with his vituperation. He has even accused that he got a witness to confirm that the Colombo police has taken bribe from the UN to stop his patriotic mission.’
Further stressing the point of British rule again in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Guardian Editor said: ‘Well! I raised the point that the British must colonize Sri Lanka again at least for another 200 years. But this does not mean that I am an agent of the West. But I strongly believe that we need the situation in Sri Lanka to change where we have the basics of responsible governance, accountability and trustworthy legal system. What we have is law of the jungle and the decree of the irresponsible mavericks like Wimal’.
‘One must ask what the President Rajapaksa’s the self promoting and confused Wimal is doing right now. He thinks that he is the man to content with in Sri Lanka and believes all institutions in the country belongs to him and his family. It is undisputed that President Rajapaksa murdered the social order, rule of law, and all the norms needed to govern. For him truth and honesty are secondary and his primary objective is to make the most whilst in power and try and extend it further with the help of mavericks like Wimal Weerawanse and Mervin Silva’s. The club rule of the family so far is doing well and President’s son is being trained to take forward the corrupt regime for another two decades’ said Nilantha Illangamuwa.
