(October 28, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The head of the crimes devision in Galgamuwa police is a treasure hunter by the name of Chandrasiri. He has recently been arrested for treasure hunting and is now in remand. It is reported that the police hierarchy want him released.
Interestingly the media has not been reported anything about this incident because of his association with the famous criminals in the area. Chandrasiri was attached to the Galgamuwa police for a long period and there have been complaints against him in the Bribery and Corruption Commission and the Police Commission. None of these complaints have resulted in any investigations.
On the contrary there is tremendous pressure and effort being expended in the attempt to rescue this police treasure hunter.
