Supporters of jailed former army Chief Sarath Fonseka shout during a protest against the government in Kadawata, about 15 km (9 miles) from central Colombo, October 2, 2010. Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa upheld a military court ruling sentencing Fonseka to prison, meaning his wartime ally turned political arch-rival will lose his parliamentary seat. Rajapaksa's widely expected approval of the sentence is the latest reversal of fortune for the ex-general, who just over a year ago was lionised as a national hero for leading the army to victory over the Tamil Tiger separatists. The sign reads, "Is prison the trophy to an army commander who saved the country from terrorism?".
