(October 21, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Minister Keheliya Rambukwella states that approximately 20 percent of defense expenses have been cut down through next years budget when compared to the budget which was presented previously.
The minister stated that a considerable amount of funds have been allocated for defense expenses as further payments have to be made for weapons which were purchased during the war. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated this, at the cabinet decisions media briefing which was held at the Government Information Department today.
Meanwhile journalists inquired about a video which comprises of incidents which took place during the final war. In response, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that this incident is similar to the Channel 4 incident.
Minister Keheliya Rambukwella also commented on the recent incident in which the police officials had assaulted journalists during the heated situation in which the Inter University Students' Federation had attempted to enter the Ministry of Higher Education. The minister stated that the president had ordered the IGP to submit a complete report on the relevant incident.
