Court orders Police to get tough on unruly University Students

(October21, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) 14 students of the Kelaniya University were produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Mahee Wijeweera following a notice issued by courts. The Magistrate had ordered the Kiribathgoda Police to produce these students before courts over violent behaviour and forcefully taking shelter at the university premises. Deputy Solicitor General M Nawawi presenting details on behalf of the Attorney General requested an order to be issued to remove the students from the University who have completed their academic year. The magistrate released 13 students on personnel bail worth 100,000 Rupees each. The Magistrate also ordered the police to use their powers to remove students who behave in an unruly manner from the University premises. Tell a Friend
