(September 21, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Around Rs.140 million has been spent on accommodating the delegation which accompanied President Mahinda Rajapaksa for his participation at the 65th UN summit held in the U.S, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said.
He said that the sum has been spent on accommodation, transport and food for the delegation of 130 officials despite only four or five delegates being officially invited for the summit.
Mr. Attanayake said that these expenses would be paid for by the public while it was a blatant waste of public funds.
