(July 17, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Editor and an editorial assistant at the left-leaning Sinhala Language‘Lanka’ newspaper are currently being questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a spokesperson for the paper said a short while ago.
The Editor Chandana Sirimalwatte and journalist Priyantha were told to call over at the CID Head Quarters in Colombo by police sleuths who visited the newspaper office at Delkanda in the Mirihana police area shortly after dusk on Friday, the spokesperson said.
He added that the police were keen to find out the private and personal details of the entire editorial staff and the true identity of a contributor who wrote to the ‘Lanka’ under a pen name, he further added.
