(May 19, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Twelve deaths were reported in the past four days due to floods and lightning strikes, a Disaster Management Centre official said.
National Coordinator of the DMC Pradeep Kodipilli said that 392, 686 persons from 89, 725 families were affected by the floods especially from the Gampaha district.
Twenty nine IDP camps have been set up to house the displaced from Divulapitiya, Attanagalle, Biyagama, Jaela, Dompe, Gampaha, Katana, Kelaniya, Mahara, Negombo and Minuwangoda areas in the Gampaha district while another 10 IDP camps have been set up in affected areas in the Western province.
