(April 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Voting in the Parliamentary elections opened a shortwhile ago, officials said.
Over 14 million voters are registerd to vote in over 10,000 booths while 83,000 police and security personnel have been deployed.
Police said that there were no major incidents reported overnight.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa was among one of those first to vote at the D.A. Rajapaksa vidyalaya in Medamulana, Hambantota.
