Ministry of Defence Hijacks Tiger Terror Game.

Despicable acts of revenge were common phenomena among Tamil Tiger groups against dissident Tamil groups for many years. Revenge, arrogance and fascist were definitely the names of Tiger game. Currently, Sri Lankan Government, taking the same arrogant fascist path of LTTE, taking steps to get revenge from political dissenters. Journalists have been killed and abducted while opposition figures have been arrested.

When Lasantha was killed last year, Secretary of Defence played down Lasantha’s death to the BBC by uttering, “Who is Lasantha, why are you so concerned about his death?” Just like Tigers killed Tamil dissenters in the name of “Liberation”, Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence is going after its critics in the name of “National Security”. Sarath Fonseka, who is detained by Ministry of Defence in the name of “National Security” is now prevented from talking to his daughters. Just like Anoma Fonseka said, “don’t this group of brutes wearing white attire do not know the affection between a father and a child and do not know that they are meting out this cruel treatment and injustice to an Army Commander who rescued the country from terrorism,” The answer is not. When eparatist terrorism is replaced by state terrorism, the country is bound to head for dark days.

Anoma Fonseka speaking at a media discussion today said, General Sarath Fonseka who is under Army detention on the orders of the Defense Ministry has decided to stage a fast today (7) for having not been given the phone to speak to his daughters .

When she went to meet him on the 6th night to give his meals , the security officer did not allow her to take her phone in. When she inquired as to the reason , the officer had stated that according to the Defense Ministry orders, phones are prohibited from being taken in.

Although the State media is engaged in vilifying him and spinning false yarns against him , as a father and a husband , the General even when he was on the battlefield had been talking to them and has been a dutiful father and husband . Refusal to allow him to speak to his daughters by phone while in Army custody , is to run counter to the Court order , she pointed out.

Speaking with one’s family members is a human right .Even the Courts have accepted that . This action is therefore overriding the Court.

As soon as the General became aware of this objection , he immediately spoke to the senior military police officer and registered his protest by warning that he will stage a fast.
