All the Gold , Money found in North handed over to Banks – Basil

(March 30, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) All the gold and money found in banks and safes in the North are in safe custody, says Basil Rajapaksa, Senior Presidential Advisor and leader of the Gampaha district group of candidates for the forthcoming general election.

He made this statement attending a meeting organised by the bank workers' forum of Kirindiwita this morning.

An accurate account has been taken of the money found in safes in the North and the gold jewellery Since they were handed over to us by the Army, it is in the custody of banks and it is an example to the whole world.

All that money and gold have been handed over to the banks. When I went to the handing over ceremony, those documents were handed over to me. The Opposition asked me where all that money was. However, I handed over all that then and there to the two banks. And today, the people of those areas appreciate what we had done,” said Basil Rajapaksa.
