(January 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) “When General Sarath Fonseka was in uniform, no one found fault with him. Nobody makes comments on soldiers. The reason is that when they are in service, they are in a different plane. However, when they are no longer in uniform and enter the political arena, we are compelled to talk about them, That is the reality,” said Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Minister of Mass Media and Information.
The minister made these comments at a function in Hettipola to open a party office of the United National Freedom Alliance.
“What is this corruption and terror they are talking about? Where has it taken place? What has been robbed? These are mere allegations that have to be proved. Then we would know whether it is right or wrong,” said Minister Yapa.
