A personal weapon of Prabhakaran recovered

(January 05, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A weapon believed to be personally used by former Tiger guerrilla leader Velupillai Prabhakaran has been recovered by the STF under the directions of DIG Nimal Lewke.

DIG Lewke said that a close associate of Prabhakaran had given the directions to detect the weapon – a M16 – A2 grenade launcher which is described as a dual purpose weapon used to fire normal ammunition as well to be used as a grenade launcher.

The weapon was detected in Wellamullivaikkal.
