(January 27, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian) The paramilitary leader and the controversial non-cabinet Minister Douglas Devananda has visited many polling stations in Jaffna to show his intimidating presence to the voters. Shadowed by his body guards, the paramilitary leader in civilian attire had visited number of polling booths.
Douglas Devananda who is not a contestant in the Presidential election has visited the polling booths at the time when there are considerable fear among the Tamil people of violence and intimidation in the region.
With the heavy government backing, Minister Douglas Devananda is accused of using all the resources at his disposal to substitute his paramilitary group to the defeated LTTE in the north.
