Rajapaksha trying to con India again

“It must be remembered, Indian policy will not change whether under Fonseka or Rajapaksha is elected. But it is clear General Fonseka will never fiddle with India as like Rajapaksha doing during his term as President.”

(December 14, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Three Presidential representatives rushed to New Delhi for meetings with the Indian Ministers and Officials on 9th and 10th. Normalcy in Sri Lanka is helping Prime Minister Manmohan Singh government and issues involved in the bilateral relations at present are just irritants compared to various serious issues facing India.

The present Indian Government is keen to develop Indo- US relations, enhancing the rural development and monitoring programme and dealing with the Islamic and Naxalists terrorisms in the country. It is not known why the President of Sri Lanka sent his three confidants (family members and a friend) to India sideling his clean suited Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollogama who is in fact should have lead the delegation. Is it because Bogollogama is part of the internal simmering in the Presidents ruling bandwagon that he was not included? Bogollogama is claimed to be a man sitting on the parapet wall and having crossed over from the UNP some four years ago is expected to make a summersault and even a ‘U’ turn if election predictions progressively turn a real savour for the President.

It is also claimed that President Mahinda Rajapaksha sent his most trusted trios to News Delhi fearing Indian policy may change in the next few weeks to the detriment of the President. With this acute fear psychosis, the President is attempting to be one step ahead to manoeuvre India to plead not to make any hasty move until the Presidential election is over.

The President is also playing his cards carefully to quieten the international community. Fearing rapid Indian and international reactions during elections, the President’s brother and his ‘senior’ adviser, Basil Rajapaksha told the reporters recently that a political solution will be found for the conflict after the election.

India and the international community are still playing to the very same tune of the President for some time now. No one dare to question the plight of the All Parliamentary Representative Committee (APRC) proposal presented to the President by its chairman Prof Tissa Vitharane. The subject is not in the agenda of the President’s election campaign. Neither, the author of the report Prof. Tissa Vitharana will campaign on the proposal at this opportune election campaign period.

Eastern Provincial governance is a reflection of the monumental tragedy facing honest power sharing with the Provincial regions. Eastern Provincial Council was established after defeating the LTTE in the East. East has proved real devolution will not be permitted and only puppet regimes of the centre can run the show there with the heavy interference of ruling Mahinda, Basil and Gota brothers. It is pathetic that the Chief Minister must go with his begging bowl to Colombo to beg even to appoint a toilet cleaner to his office. One could imagine the fate of Provincial election when held in the North and it will be an effort to install the puppets of the Mahinda regime.

The Presidential election is months away. It is vital, the Presidential contender Rt Gen Sarath Fonseka take a public stand to distance him from having any dealings with the paramilitary leaders like Douglas and Karuna who associated with this government and giving a distorted vision about the Tamils. Any alignment with them will prevent a new democratic Tamil leadership arising in the near future. These men too must face due investigation and judicial processes and provided with due justice for their colossal human rights violations and malpractices without any hindrance.

It is evident that the President became iffy over General Fonseka’s sudden snap visit to India. He and the minions surrounding him are still unable to find the full details of those whom General Fonseka met when he was in Delhi. Even few days before the General’s arrival India, Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe spent few days there and met the senior officials of the Government of India.

It must be remembered, Indian policy will not change whether under Fonseka or Rajapaksha is elected. But it is clear General Fonseka will never fiddle with India as like Rajapaksha doing during his term as President.

Having known this, why does Rajapaksa & Co suddenly talking about political solutions to appease New Delhi? Their appeasement campaign has not made any progress in their political campaign work in the country. They are trying to prove that they are the only good friends or even servants of India. Everyone knows Mahinda and his Chinthanaya team are hoodwinkers. They will never find a political solution and will continue to jolly ride on state violence and impunity that follows with it to continue with their mission.

No right thinking people will support Mahinda Rajapakse as he is the man of the ruffians, opportunists, crooks and the sadists who merry make in the sufferings of the people.

A well thought out article that reflects the true character of President MR. He is a bully and HR violator as well. He is an ungrateful fellow to his helpers. Think what he did to Mangla and Sarath Fonseka the military commander. The moment he won the war MR demoted him purposely fearing a coup. What a bunch of fools are the nepotistic triumvirate. See what they did to Prabaharan. He had paid money to the LTTE leader in order to win the Presidential election last time and ungratefully murdered him. George master and Daya master will I think vouch for it.
