(December 07, Colombo -Helsinki, Sri Lanka Guardian) Desperation is seeping into the Mahinda Rajapaksha’s campaign with the revelation of scandals after scandals involving the government by the campaigners and the media.
Desperation of the President in trying all abhorring methods to counter the public outcry has reached a stage of further skullduggery and corruption to smudge the facts and counter attack the opponent with callous arguments using questionable media men who had not lived up to the standard of journalism.
Sources close to the Foreign Ministry state millions of rupees have been thrown into media to promote Mahinda Rajapaksha in the upcoming election. According to the informant the single most beneficiary is the Helsinki based sewage media managed by the 80 year old questionable K T Rajasingam who is solely managing the Asian Tribune website from a secret location.
K T Rajasingam came under media scrutiny recently over his nefarious business dealing including his involvement in human trafficking running into undisclosed sums.
According to a news report filed in the Sunday Times: "State-run media and Government-backed websites have launched vicious attacks on Gen. Fonseka. One web site, which has received Government funding for its US $25,000 a month operations, had sung paeans of praise for him in the past months This week it was crude enough to call for DNA tests on the children of some women soldiers to ascertain their paternity. The same web site had earlier accused a member of his family of making commissions in defence deals prompting their lawyers to seek US $ 50,000 in damages."
The Foreign Ministry insider said ‘this story relates to the Asian Tribune and the sum paid is not a straight forward payment for journalism work. It is a massive scandal involving kickbacks to ministers involved in the deal’.
According to previous news reports K T Rajasingam first lived in Bangkok some fifteen years ago and was involved in human taficking of Tamils and providing Thai brothel service to the higher ups from Sri Lanka. He made so much gains that he was driving a top class 500 series Mercedes Benz that time. One senior official known to K T Rajasingam in Bangkok said: ‘when he visits me, he pretends that he is not a resourceful person and to prove this he will park his luxury car about five hundred yards away from my home and walk to my place’. The contact further said ‘suspicious of him, one day, I sent my assistant to follow K T Rajasingam and he revealed his deceiving Mercedes Benz story’.
According to information gathered from Minister Douglas Devananda’s EPDP source, large sums have been paid by the Minister to the Asian Tribune to promote him until the General Election to be held after the Presidential Election. Even Douglas Devananda had admitted paying large sums to K T Rajasingam few years ago.

K T Rajasingam had clandestinely met President Rajapakse in Switzerland and USA when he visited for conferences. The Foreign Ministry provided him with five star hotel accommodation and executive class air tickets for his meetings. According to news reports Asian Tribune’s K T Rajasingam is a persona non grata to the United Kingdom and had never ventured to meet the President when he was on official visits to the UK.
K T Rajasingam played an important part to breakup the TMVP for the President and sources say he influenced the President to provide unrestricted women access and liquor to Karuna to ensure that he will not be able to raise his head for ever as a Tamil leader.-Sri Lanka Guardian
