(December 19, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Rajapaksa said he would borrow money from any bank in the world in order to develop the country but he would never take even five cents from Prabhakaran’s mother and father.
“I would rather take money form a poor farmer than betray the country,” he told a large gathering of people at Anuradhapura while addressing his first public rally since handing in his nominations for the January 26th presidential poll.
The President said that because terrorism has been eradicated, people come in large numbers for election meetings without fear. “I wills start the development plan from January 27,” he pledged. -Sri Lanka Guardian
