(December 18, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The deadline for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to decide on the polling station they would prefer to cast their vote at the upcoming presidential election, has been extended. The Elections Secretariat said that accordingly, voters who do not wish to cast their vote at the polling station designated to them could request their polling station be changed.
The secretariat added that those individuals could change their polling stations after having submitted the relevant application.
These applications should be submitted before the 24th of this month.
The Elections Secretariat noted that these applications could be handed over to the relevant returning officer, District Secretary or grama niladari officer.
Once the applications are completed, they should be certified by the relevant grama niladari officer and then addressed to the Elections Commissioner, the relevant deputy elections officer designated for the district or the senior assistant or assistant elections commissioners.
The Elections Secretariat emphasised the fact that incomplete or uncertified applications would be rejected. -Sri Lanka Guardian
