(December 11, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The hearing of the Fundamental Rights petition filed in the Supreme Court by General (retd) Sarath Fonseka regarding the reduction of his security provided by the Defence Secretary was fixed for further hearing on December 17.
The petition was taken up by a bench comprising of Chief Justice Asoka de Silva and justices Gamini Amaratunga and P.A. Ratnayake.
Attorney General Mohan Peiris argued that granting of security did not come under a particular law while the Counsel for Gen Fonseka held that the petitioner’s life remains under threat. -Sri Lanka Guardian
