AIDS day 2009: 'Safe sex is sexy'

(December 02, Bangalore, Sri Lanka Guardian) 'Take a stand, Stop AIDS', 'Safe Sex is Sexy', 'AIDS is not in recession', Were some of the powerful messages showcased by young members of St. Peter's SCM Unit, Bangalore on World AIDS Day 2009. The students presented to the public strong messages of empowerment, encouragement, and change. World AIDS Day was observed all over the world on December 1st 2009, the theme for World AIDS Day 2009 was 'Universal Access and Human Rights'. World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. The World AIDS Day theme for 2009 is 'Universal Access and Human Rights'. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.

Taking this message strong and trying to reach out to as many people as possible, the members of St. Peter's SCM Unit distributed 800 Red Ribbons to college students and the local people in the Mission Compound Area of Bangalore City. Students also held placards in the very busy junction of the Subbhai Circle showcasing important messages, an estimated of 50,000 people would have read these messages sending across a powerful message to all people.

St. Peter's SCM Unit is affiliated to the Student Christian Movement of India, Bangalore and is one of the powerful unit in the Karnataka Area which has engaged in many such social concerns.
