(November 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lanka Guardian recently brought to the attention of the public that a bloody ‘coup d'état’ is planned by the Defense Ministry to oust the present Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pilliyan from the Eastern Provincial Council and install his rival Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman in his place.
Following this revelation ‘A civilian and two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were killed on 27 October 2009 in the Kurunegala district where a vehicle of Pillaiyan, met with an accident according to the police’. Fortunately, Pillaiyan was not traveling in the vehicle. Sources close to Pillaiyan said he escaped death due to his last minute tactical decision not to go in the ill-fated car.
Pillaiyan escaped near death a year ago, on October 31, 2008, when he narrowly escaped a serious accident in the same police division at Gogaralla, where his car collided with a lorry.
According to reliable sources, determination of the Defense Ministry to get rid of Pillaiyan is getting stronger as the government wants its puppet Karuna government to be installed in the East soon and the one of its trusted Minister Douglas Devananda in the north. The source also confirmed empowering Douglas Devananda as Chief Minister for the northern provincial council is proceeding according to plan, as he is able to make significant progress in reaching the people there with the prevention of contenders from the TNA and the opposition parties to compete with him.-Sri Lanka Guardian
