(November 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Sri Lankan high commissioner in Australia has been instructed to take all necessary steps to address the issue of Sri Lankan asylum seekers who are being detained for attempting to enter their country illegally, foreign minister Rohitha Bogollagama told parliament today.

The minister said Australia Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has telephoned President Mahinda Rajapakse over the issue and steps are being taken to address the matter.
