(October 25, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Secretary of the UK branch of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) of the President of Sri Lanka has been appointed as advisor to the Fisheries Minister.
According to the news published in the Lankanewsweb: ‘To the amazement of many of the members (of SLFP) the Secretary of the (UK) Branch Anura Medagedara claimed that he has been appointed by the President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse, as the "Advisor to the Minister of Fisheries " with a car and a bungalow for his personal use. He further said that all his friends are welcomed to use his official car and stay in his official bungalow when they are holidaying in Sri Lanka.’

Anura Medagedera is a well known ultra Sinhala nationalist. To his credit stands some Sinhala media and street campaign work in the UK. Only qualifications he had for his appointment is his involvement with the President’s party and taking a joyous line of greeting people since 18 May 2009 with ‘Jayaweva’ (triumph/victory) slogan and hand-sakes.He has sacrificed the traditional ‘Aybowang’ (hello) to ‘Jayaweva’ to be rewarded with the position of advisor to the Fisheries Minister. What a fiasco is this? This is another step forward in the troubled fishing expedition Sri Lanka is currently experiencing.
Forgetting our pain, hurt and our honest inner feelings let us all publicly say ‘Jayaweva’ to get something from the President.
