(October 01, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lankan nationals cannot be produced before the International War Crimes Tribunal due to steps taken by him, says Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.
“Statements made by leaders in the government that they would not let war heroes be hauled up before war crimes tribunals is an attempt to take credit for work done by others,” Mr. Wickremasinghe said.
Wickremasinghe added that the leaders in the government were attempting to conceal the truth for petty political gains.
He recollected that as the then prime minister he rejected ratifying the International War Crimes Tribunal in 2002.
The Opposition leader pointed out that it was his actions that resulted in Sri Lankan nationals not being taken before the International War Crimes Tribunal. -Sri Lanka Guardian

Ranil, but you singed the ceasefire agreement with the LTTE that betrayed the country, didn't you? So for many Sri Lankas you are still a traitor.....
You are also telling half truth. Any one can be tried at ICC-Hague if the UN Security Council passes a resolution against him/her. In case of Sri Lanka this has very remote chance as most certainly China and Russia will veto out such a resolution.
